The Calm Bright's Grove

Fall weather had set in on this cool rainy October morning.  When I looked out the window the rain was steady, and the cloud cover was very thick.  I grabbed a tea and a muffin and headed out on the off chance that the rain would slow down long enough for me to get a shot or two.  I had driven pass this location many times on my way to pick up dinner from Skeeters, but this morning looked different.  When I arrived at the beach the rain was light, and the cloud cover created a soft light that I had never seen before.  I could see that this had the potential of possibly being an amazing photograph.  I parked at Kenwick on The Lake Park grabbed my gear and of course my large umbrella and a plastic sheet I use to sit or kneel on wet ground.  This was to be a very long exposure to capture the contrast colours of light and dark grey in the clouds.  It was also important to smooth out the motion of water to help set the mood for the calm and soothing story I wanted for this photograph.  This image was shot at f/22, ISO100, as a 15-minute exposure with a ND 9 stop filter.  I hope you enjoy this image!
