The Salt River wild horses are the historic and majestic creatures roaming the lower Salt River in the Tonto National Forest, just outside of Mesa, Arizona. In the Tonto National Forest, the Salt River wild horses roam freely in their 20,000-acre habitat along the lower Salt River and are a protected species, the State law passed in 2016 for their protection.  These two wild horses were side by side grazing in the Arizona desert together like they are "Best Buds".
